Victor Michael West

Victor Michael West is an artist of Tlingit, Cree, and Celtic ancestry currently residing in Ucluelet BC Canada. As a self taught artist, Victor has spent time studying masters of the craft such as Bill Reid, Robert Davidson, David Boxely, Charles Edenshaw, as well as many others. He has worked alongside the likes of notable artists such as Thunderbird Jack, Dr. “Old Bill Holm” and Clarence Mills. The fine craftsmanship and artistic eye of Mr. West can be seen in his meticulously carved Bentwood Boxes, and plaques, as well as his delicate paintwork. Victor Michael West prefers to work with the traditional Red and Yellow Cedar of the Island, and derives many of his inspirations from traditional Tlingit artwork and tales.
