Bob W. Cranmer
Bob Cranmer‘s is Kwakwaka Wakw. He was born is Campbell River on December 6, 1958. Passed away in 2014.
Bob carved for 30 years, his teacher was the late Les Nelson. His family is originally from Gilford Island, Kingcome Inlet.
Bob was a Hamasta dancer, this is the most important ritual dance of the Tseka, or red cedar bark rituals. These dancers are our Hamatsa birds, the cannibal bird; which are spirits of the North. Their names are Hunsumith. Bob is a member of the secret society. The dancers are supernatural gifts of the forest; they are beneficial. They are a part of his family property. The dance is distinct, and personal, of his family.
